Not like other girls I was saying NO for marriage… I was really happy to get married immediately after my degree because I know marriage is not gonna stop me from what I am doing now if I find my better half to be an gentle man and fortunately I found the best for me. We started talking only after our family meet. I was so excited inside because I knew that this is gonna happen since we all were really impressed by his family. And when we spoke for the first time I told him we are really happy about this proposal, but he said.. ‘Nivi I know you are impressed by my family but all I want is to impress you as Pradeep, just as Pradeep’.. and he did.
I am Nivetha.. born and brought up in a beautiful and peaceful city of Tamil Nadu, Coimbatore. A fashion Designer who spent five years in Chennai which changed me to an complete independent girl.. thanks to my college, NIFT.
I was looking for a person who could be same as me who have spent his college days in a similar environment as in the culture… because I know, none of any narrow minded person who is from a conservative background can accept the way I am.
So this groom search was happening for quite a long time. Though I was so much excited about my wedding, me and my family didn’t rush up. After seeing number of proposals I lost my hope in looking for Mr Perfect because none of them didn’t seem to be a perfect person for me. So I made up my mind to accept anyone… and was convincing myself saying ‘this is the reality’.
And one day we got a call from his family, they seemed to be really cool and kind of moderate and broad minded which impressed my family and me. Even they showed a positive sign. So the next check was horoscope like a typical Indian wedding. And that said we have a great compatibility.. So then comes the family meeting and that’s how it all started.
Pradeep is a calm person and who loves to travel around. A mechanical engineer which is nowhere near fashion.. a straight contrast profession. Their native is Madurai but he is more of a Chennai guy since he did his schooling and degree there. IITian and that was the reason I said YES initially, definitely not for its reputation.. only because both of our institutions has the same cultural environment so that I could expect a guy who is more like me and I was right.. yeah I found my Mr Perfect.
We met only four days prior to our engagement since he was working quite far away he couldn’t come down during the family meet. But we spent enough time on calls and skype to know about each other. Once he was back to the town for engagement we spent four days together and he managed to plan for all those four days in the best way that could possible with a fine dinner date too.
We got engaged on 16th of June 2016, in Coimbatore at Vijay Park Inn. That was a very simple event with close circle.
My green and pink pre engagement saree is from PSR, Coimbatore. The Gold and Pink is my engagement saree and that is from Chennai Silks, Madurai and was picked by mother in law which made me look more elegant and classy.
My blouses were done by ANYA, Coimbatore. They did awesome as as usual.
Makeup and hair was done by Mrs Hellen Edwin (La Hellen’s, Coimbatore). Before the event I searched for good reference pictures to show her the style I want. And she did an awesome job. She even suggested me a bridal package which include three sittings with few facials in a month of time which made my skin to look more soft and glowing. And I repeated the same package for my wedding too.
DAS MEDIA did our engagement photography. Anandu and his team were so good in candid shots and our couple shoot on the day. Their final album was the best of all. It was so modern and classy. Everyone complimented their work. They also did for our other reception which happened in Coimbatore with a complimentary simple post wedding shoot.
And our wedding was planned for 14th of September 2016 in Madurai which is his hometown at Raja Muthaiah mandram. On 13th we had a reception too were we all had real fun time with family and friends with dance and games, I have to thank my brother in law and his friends, they organised all the fun part perfectly. And my friends who made a video which pulled all the happy memories into that moment.
Wedding saree was brought from Chennai Silks(T.Nagar,Chennai)after a huge hunt. Previously we had a glance in most of the top shops but I was looking for something really contemporary and was so sure that I am not gonna pick the usual red silk saree for muhurtham. The minute I saw this greenish blue one with the very teeny tiny patterns with jari I said yes to my muhurtham saree finally. And my Orange and hot pink saree for the pooja before muhurtham is from PSR, Coimbatore.
About the jewel… since the day I saw my parents wedding picture I always wanted to wear a similar piece for my wedding too. My mom was wearing a typical south indian kaasu maalai with attigai. And I am more like a minimal person.. So I matched a contemporary temple jewellery neck piece with kaasu malai and a kemp with pink and green stone on it in the middle which has a matching Jumka, which complimented my blouse design so well. All the jewels were from Kumaran thanga maligai and Prince Jewellery, Coimbatore.
My muhurtham blouse was designed by ANYA, Coimbatore. They are absolutely brilliant in making bridal pieces. I didn’t had any idea to go for a contrast blouse because the saree itself is double shaded at the same time not just same colour from top to bottom. So I just wanted to add pink to the blouse just here and there and ANYA did a pretty blouse by adding pink into the zardosi pattern by French knots.
Styling was done by Monika Bathija (Rachna’s, Madurai). Both make-up and hair styling was done by her for both reception and muhurtham. I was so tired of no sleep and I wasn’t able to cooperate her properly during the makeup.. But she was so sweet and made me very comfortable and did her job so perfectly and everyone complimented both the looks she brought out of me. She and her team did exactly what I asked for with mild eye makeup and simple jadai. I would suggest her for anyone who asks me for stylist.
Mehandi was done by Zeba, Coimbatore. She was suggested by one of my friends’ mom who is her professor in her college so I had no fear of having a messed up design in my hands on my wedding. She also did mehandi for my engagement and I loved the design.
Photography was the first one we booked once the dates were confirmed. There were two crews on our big day one was Say Cheese from Chennai who are well known for their magical couple shots, who did candid and wedding film and the other from Madurai Nathan’s Photography for traditional photography and videography with candid as well.
I and Pradeep had no enough time to have our solo shots done before or after the event but both the teams managed their best to click our looks and we loved their work.
