A typical arranged marriage of two hearts
A beautiful and emotional narrative from an enthusiastic mom who meticulously planned her charming daughter’s wedding! The wedding was a grand affair which was highlighted by the huge family circle, friends and gorgeous outfits!
I am Ranganayaki Kannan, the mother-of-the-bride reliving the most memorable occasion in my life- my daughter Sai Sruthi’s wedding. Sruthi has been everything in our family and our happiness knew no bounds when we found a wonderful groom in Nitin Ganesh.
Our long awaited day had finally arrived! It was a dream come true and in retrospect, life seemed to be on fast forward ever since the wedding was finalised after Nitin the groom for the family walked into the house.
Nitin instantly won all our hearts ( including Sruthi’s ) with his polite demeanour and charm.
After their grand engagement in February, we had under 3 months to plan as the wedding date was fixed on 2nd of May 2018. It was a race against time as we had to plan everything in a very short notice.
Since we planned for a traditional wedding it was for 2 full days of gala & fun with family and friends. Our family is a big one and to get-together for occasions will be more than just fun 🙂
The first thing we did was to book the wedding venue. We were looking for the best venue within city as both the families preferred to have it for better access by our guests. After coming across many halls we decided to block our dates in Swarna Sudarshan Convention Centre, Nanmangalam, Chennai. It was such a nice hall with great space for parking.
It was very challenging to plan and organize the wedding though many blogs and apps like ezwed, pinterest etc helped us to a greater extent with new trendy ideas to go with.
The next thing we planned after the wedding venue was the caterers. We chose Ambi Catering from Ullagaram. They are like our family caterers for every occasion and without any thought we fixed them for my wedding. They had taken care of the wedding garlands, seer bhakshanam and did exactly what we had asked for. It was all perfect and the food was outstanding!
The Wedding Hall decoration was done by the person who has tie-up with the mandapam and he did a very excellent job by giving different looks for all the functions.
After a long search , we zeroed in on Ashokarsh photography since we really got impressed with their work . We hired them as a complete package for the wedding. They bring out the story of the occasion beautifully in pictures highlighting the emotions & details that made the wedding day one of most important days of our life. They not only focused on the couple but also our family & friends during the wedding. A special note to the interesting short videos of the occasions and cinematic trailers of wedding and reception they make which looks neat and entertaining.
Coming to the make-up artist ,since Sruthi wanted a simple and elegant look .We tried some top makeup professionals and found Make-up artist Meenal Momaya (Neelam Studios) . Her team did a great job with the make-up, hair-do for Viratham, Nitchayathartham, Sangeet ,muhurtham and Reception. The make-up & hair styling was different for each occasion . They did a fantastic work and made everyone talk about it!
We had sangeet and the entire event including the DJ was arranged by Mr.Pradeep of Marriage Wonders . We met him and discussed about our requirements. He explained on different ideas for the evening and it was like so much fun on the big day! We had lot of events lined for the sangeeth like Dance sequences from family members , Dubsmash , AV for the couple ,
The stage setup, lighting, dance floor, MC were all done perfectly and I would say it brought out the kid within us and forget not to mention our family members too, who enjoyed in spite of saying NO initially 🙂
Talking about the sarees , for Sruthi we decided the colour for each occasion and found Hyagriva Silks and Aishwarya Sarees to our taste. All the sarees that we chose were pure silk with different designs in it.
The sarees were complimented with the best, our one and only Geetu hautecouture in Mahalingapuram. I must say Sangeetha is always full of ideas and innovative designs. All her wedding blouses were stitched by them uniquely. The suggestions and ideas they had for her blouses were amazing.
1. Viratham function – She chose a Orange silk with bright Purple border . The blouse was designed in a very traditional way with beautiful kasumalai pattern . She wore a Guttapusalu set to match the outfit.
2. Sangeet- We had a customised a beautiful yellow and peach colour lehenga with a shocking pink half saree and peach colour dazzling stone work blouse which fitted to perfection. She kept her jewellery to the minimum so that the costume get highlighted.
3. Nitchayathartham – For this occasion , she wore two sarees . The first colour was Turquoise Green with a beautiful zari work..She wore a blouse designed with a Chandbali work on the sleeve. The second saree was a darker shade of pink with a big zari border. The blouse had laser cut inlay work done in golden and pink stones. For both sarees , she had the typical mallu look of wearing lot of gold jewellery.
4.. Oonjal- For this, she wore a beautiful yellow saree with a blend of red and green shaded border on a kancheepuram silk saree. She got the blouse designed beautifully with intricate antique work complimented with tiny golden gungroos .
5. Muhurtham- This was her big occasion .She chose her nine yards saree from Nalli 100 . Again for this she got the blouse designed in a very unique way with a strip of golden beads running thru the neckline and sleeve.
6. Reception – She wore a golden brocade saree complimented with a dark blue velvet blouse with zardosi work.
Not one went without complimenting the blouse work !!!
The gold jewels were bought in GRT jewellery in Chennai. She went for minimal gold jewellery for the wedding and had hired her oonjal accessories and nichayathartham ones in Swarnaprabhu jewellery, Mylapore. Her oonjal jewellery was bought from Aru’s one gram jewellery ( online website ) and her muhurtham jewellery was designed by Ms Pink Panther (online website) . A special mention to the Jhumkas which she customized for Sruthi as she was very keen in wearing an antique one. She chose her Reception jewellery from Fine Shine – Anna Nagar Bangles were all bought in Ponday Bazaar.
We got the Bridegroom’s entire wedding outfit collection from Raymonds and Sangeet costume from Manyvar
In all by Gods grace everything went perfectly well and it was more than what we expected !!!!!
