Kanchipuram , popularly known as the “city of temples”, is one of India’s seven sacred cities. A beautiful abode and a holy pilgrimage site, this heritage city with its exquisite temples is quite a treat for the eyes.
One of the oldest structures in Kanchipuram is the Kailasanathar temple located in a rustic suburb away from the hustle-bustle of the city. The architecture of the temple is a fine example of the Dravidian style of architecture carved out of sandstone. The walls of the temple are adorned with beautiful paintings and sculptures of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi.
